“Ghanaians are not ready for war,” former Central Regional Minister, Kwamena Duncan, has hit back at former President John Mahama following the latter’s ”do or die” comment during an interview on a Techiman-based radio station.
The former President, speaking on Akina Radio while embarking on a “Thank You” tour, stated categorically that he and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) won’t resort to the Supreme Court for election redress again.
He noted that they will meet the New Patriotic Party (NPP) boot for boot in the 2024 elections.
“We learn from the past so we [NDC] have learned our lessons from the 2020 election. The next elections will be won or lost at the polling station.”
“If otherwise, it will be a do or die affair at the polling station. The right thing must be done. We will win our election at the polling station.”
“We will do everything to make sure the election is transparent and fair. We don’t want to cheat them, so they shouldn’t. We won’t wait for any Supreme Court, no!” Mr. Mahama told a ‘shocked’ Presenter.
Kwamena Duncan wonders why the former President is so bent on becoming President again.
‘” . . what is it that President Mahama continues to eye in the Jubilee House that he wants to go back and to collect with his hands?” he questioned.
Describing Mr. Mahama as a “rebel leader” for delivering what he termed as “war” comments, the former Minister stressed Ghanaians won’t die for JohnMahama.
“This country has never either gotten to the brick of war or being in war; has never happened . . . the Ghanaian people, no matter the circumstances in which they find themselves, they will not get to that point where they will draw daggers. Ghanaians won’t follow former President Mahama, who has been an Assemblyman, MP, Deputy Minister, Minister, Vice President and a former President before, and shed their blood for him to become President . . . this country, we’re not ready. We’re not prepared,” he fumed.
Kwamena Duncan made these comments during Peace FM’s ‘Kokrokoo’ programme Wednesday morning.
