NPP Communications Director, Yaw Buaben Asamoa, has criticized some members threatening to vote against the party following the nomination of the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo through the Minister of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development, Dan Botwe, released the list of nominees which was made up of 222 men and 38 women.
However, this announcement has generated rancor and the destruction of properties.
Some members have reportedly threatened to vote against the party in 2024 because they suspect the nomination was not done fairly.
Reacting to this during a panel discussion on Peace FM‘s morning show ‘Kokrokoo‘, Yaw Buaben Asamoa reminded those “beating the war drums” that the President could not have nominated every candidate.
“Some are threatening to vote against the NPP in 2024 . . . we need to be careful about such utterances . . . if truly you wanted to serve, then there is no need to destroy properties or even threaten to vote against the party. If you give up now, do you think you will get another chance in 2024? For all you know, you might be nominated in 2024. There’s time for everyone,” he pointed out.
He further urged members to, “accept that the President has made his decision and then work with it . . . if along the way the nominee is not meeting expectations then we decide on that . . . but if we cause mayhem now and destroy things, we will have nothing to come back to”.
